Trip Cost per person is a determining factor in the price of the insurance coverage, as well as the amount of trip cancellation and trip interruption coverage. Calculating the accurate insurable trip cost can seem confusing, but it doesn't have to be.
For maximum coverage, we recommend that you insure ALL nonrefundable trip costs that you might lose and need to be reimbursed for should you need to cancel or interrupt your trip due to a covered reason, as listed in the policy certificate.
Nonrefundable costs include prepaid trip payments/deposits that would be made prior to trip departure - whether you paid for it or someone else paid for it on your behalf - and would be lost if you had to cancel the trip for a covered reason.
Some examples can include expenses for:
- airline tickets
- tour/vacation packages
- nonrefundable hotels
- vacation rentals
- campground fees
- rental car fees
- tickets for tours or events
- concert vacation packages
- more
*You can include trip payments that have already been made, as well as trip payments yet to be made. If you insure your trip for nonrefundable trip costs already made and you then make additional trip payments, make sure to contact us to add the new insured trip costs to your policy (this will impact the plan cost, and additional plan cost charges may apply).
*If you are using points/miles, you will look to insure the out-of-pocket costs paid to use those miles, such as taxes and fees.
*If your total nonrefundable trip costs include payments made by another person on your behalf...In the event of a claim, you can assign that paying person as a beneficiary in your claim.
*Be sure to consult your travel suppliers to determine which costs are non-refundable for your particular trip, as cancellation policies vary.
