When a country moves to a Level 4 Travel Advisory from the US Dept of State and/or the CDC, if this a covered reason for a Trip Cancellation claim?

Trip cancellation benefits are given if a covered reason is the cause of the cancellation. A Travel advisory from the State Department or other government bodies and border closings are not covered reasons on our plans.

Additionally, as it has been stated transparently to all customers since early on in the pandemic - in the FAQ, Help Center, and in the quoting & purchasing pathway, for which all customers must click "I Understand" prior to seeing the quotes...Since late January 2020 COVID-19 has been considered a "known event". For policies with trip cancellation and trip interruption benefits that were purchased since that date, any trip cancellation or trip interruption claims related to travel restrictions (including vaccine mandates) or fear of travel due to COVID-19 will not be payable. At this point, there is an assumed risk that the traveler is taking.
